Panelology is a weekly podcast about comics. We talk about current books, what we're looking forward to, and how to get into reading comics in the first place.

Birthright: Call to Adventure (Image Comics, 2014; #6-10)

What do you know, it’s time to check back in with Joshua Williamson and Andrei Bressan’s Birthright.  (If you haven’t checked out the beginning of series, you might want to check out that write-up first.)

The main thing you need to know is that Birthright’s still good.

  1. This arc still stays emotionally centered.
  2. It has a lot more strange fantasy, though.
  3. One of Mikey’s companions from Terrenos has come over to seek him out.
  4. Bears are sweet.
  5. I’m still not telling you what the twist from the first volume is.
  6. Bressan and Lucas’s art remains impressive.  It is still richly detailed, and it can swing from gorgeous to grotesque on a dime.
